Residents at a local senior retirement home want to help more with community outreach, and they're starting with the Alzheimer's Association.
Century Pines and Evergreen Senior Living held a bake sale on Friday in hopes of raising $800 for the group. Residents baked sweet treats and local bakeries even donated goods! Outside of the bake sale, they've already raised $700 and hope to reach their overall goal of $1,500.
"It's a wonderful cause and we are here to raise some money for the Alzheimer's Association. I believe things are being done all over town and there's a race. We're just happy to participate in the best way that we can," says volunteer and resident Faye Montague.
Staff and residents will also participate in the Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk on Sept. 25. If you're interested in donating and helping the residents at Century Pines reach their fundraising goal, contact them at 229-889-8840 or 229-889-8979.
