Renters indicted for Water, Gas and Light scam
Two women are facing felony charges after running a scam on Water, Gas and Light.
Cristal Marshall and Donna Warren have been indicted by a grand jury for making false statements.
The women allegedly forged their property owner's signature on a fake rental agreement to get their utilities turned on.
"It is a pretty common tactic by persons who have amassed a bill or have some other debt that they have to pay to Water, Gas and Light and they can't get the utilities otherwise, so they come up with leases or information that is false in order to get utilities," said Greg Edwards, Dougherty County District Attorney.
Edwards says these types of scams are a problem because Water, Gas and Light could raise fees in the future to pay for their losses.
