On Friday, the Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany hosted a breakfast remembering and honoring Prisoners of War and people Missing-in-Action.

Officials say as the the years pass since our historic overseas military engagements, fewer and fewer POWs remain to share their experiences and stories.

They say having opportunities like this for fellowship with former service members allows attendees to honor those who have gone before them or gave this ultimate sacrifice in defense of our great nation.

The keynote speaker for the ceremony was Major Alexander Vanston, Commanding Officer, Headquarters Company East, Marine Corps Logistics Command.

Major Vanston says, "it's part of the promise we make to return all services members home."

Vanston previously served as a member of an MIA Remains Recovery Team.
