Relocation talks stunt Albany Early College enrollment

Albany Early College enrollment low.

Talks of relocation have caused a drop in Albany Early College student enrollment.

A lottery drawing for students, scheduled for Tuesday, was postponed due to a shortage of applicants.

Each year the program takes in 60 students per grade from middle and high school grade levels.

Officials say although there have been talks of a relocation, the program is still being offered through next year.

Maybe parents don't know that we are going to be open because sometimes when parents hear ~move TM they associate that with close and for us that is absolutely not the case. We will be here, said Barbara Harvey, Albany Early College Program Coordinator.

Harvey says the Albany Early College will not move from the Albany State University campus this upcoming school year.
