Monday morning marked the start of registration for all Dougherty County Schools.

If a child is starting at a new school this year, including those that have been re-zoned, a parent or guardian needs to go to that school between 9am and 2pm for the next week to register the child.

Registration doesn't cost any money but you do need to bring proof of residency.

Starting August 1st, each school will be holding an open house. Students in kindergarten through ninth grade are encouraged to attend these open house sessions with a parent of guardian.

R.D. Harter with DCSS says if parents have questions, these open houses are the time to get them answered.

For elementary schools the open house will be from 4-6 p.m., middle schools are 5-7 p.m. and high schools are 6-8 p.m.

Principals are already reporting to work in each school and teachers report next Wednesday the 31st.

Registration ends July 31st with students starting back to school August 5th.
