Recycling event offers way to safely dispose of old electronics
If you have old electronics lying around your house, you can safely get rid of them.
Albany's annual e-recycling event will be this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Civic Center parking lot.
Crews will unload your electronics from your car, so you won't even need to get out, said Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful Executive Director Judy Bowles.
You can drop off electronics, ink cartridges, old documents that you may want security shredded, and even old prescriptions, which the Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit is collecting and disposing.
There is a $10 hazardous materials fee for CRT monitors and a $20 fee for old TVs.
While this event keeps products out of the landfill, it also has a financial benefit.
"To recycle and make a product out of a product is much cheaper than using virgin materials," Bowles said.
If you aren't able to make it Saturday, you can still recycle your electronics during weekdays at Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful on Habersham Road.
