A group is upset after having its confederate flags stolen from a cemetery in Cordele.

Michael Mullis of Cordele, a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp 141 of Albany, reported to Cordele police that 27 of his group's confederate flags were stolen from gravesites at Sunnyside Cemetery on Eighth Avenue.

The flags were valued at $135. Cordele Police Chief William Hooper says his office learned recently that it was the public works department that removed the flags.

FOX 31 reached out to Cordele Public Works but has not heard back.
