Pruitt Health Palmyra staff experienced the Second Wind Dreams Virtual Dementia tour.

Glasses were put over the eyes of participants to impair vision, headphones with sounds of high frequencies were provided, and hand gloves were worn during the tour to make simple tasks difficult.

The experience opened the eyes of many at Pruitt.

“It made me more compassionate and have more patience for the residents now being able to walk a mile in their shoes,” Cassandra Mcmiller said.

P.K. Beville created the Virtual Dementia Tour which 18 Pruitt Health communities are enrolled. The tour's purpose is not to scare individuals about dementia, but make them more aware of what it's like to live with the disease.
