As holiday shopping continues, with more gifts comes more receipts and officials say that can put you at risk for identity theft.One Albany resident, Jill Oliver, had her identity taken from her three years ago. Since then, she says she's taking more precaution now by looking at her statements online and using bank services.Officials with the Lee County Sheriff's Office stress that low tech techniques such as dumpster diving for receipts can do as much, if not more damage, than getting personal information.SFC Thomas Goodwin of the Lee County Sheriff's Office says credit cards receipts can put you more at risk because of the accessibility and information linked to it.Lastly, he urges a preventive method is to shred personal material including receipts.
