Southwest Georgia has many non-profit organizations that offer great services to our community. We asked, and you voted that the Lily Pad does "What's Right" in our community.
The Lily Pad is an umbrella organization that house a children's advocacy center, a sexual assault center, a CASA organization as well as an access and visitation program for fathers.
People are willing to come out in the middle of the night and not work for a lot of money, nor a lot of glory and recognition because they find meaning in what they do and they find meaning in serving people.
Lily Pad offers hope to members of this community so that they can continue to step forward in life with their head held high and a smile on their face.
Open twenty-four hours during the day, this organization is here to support both the victim and his/her family through interaction so that they can distract the child from the tragedy that has just occurred. This free-standing center provides protection for victims so that they don't have to be traumatized any further by going through public facilities. They are brought here in a private atmosphere where there are one-on-one services for them so that the can handle their situation and not be intermingled with everyday injuries or illness.
The Lily Pad is also very active in the community. Among the many services and programs that they offer, they spend time outside of work giving back to the community. No matter how big or small an event, there is always a member of this organization at every event so people know who they are and what they stand for.
A national statistic states that one in four girls and one in four boys is sexually assaulted. The Lily Pad reaches out to 600 children a year for child abuse and cases of neglect.
