Dougherty County Commissioners are looking to take steps to ensure the county does not have another West Nile Virus outbreak like it had two years ago. Commissioners have decided to buy a new truck as well as sprayer for the public works department to ensure that the department has the most up to date equipment to combat the growing problem in Albany.
The new truck and sprayer should be up and running within the next week. The old trunk and sprayer has been sold to Worth County, which needs the equipment to continue to combat mosquitoes in their area.
Department Director, Donnell Mathis, says that by having a strong department not only here in Dougherty County but Worth County as well will continue to help eradicate the mosquito problem in both areas.
