Just this weekend a woman was stabbed by her ex-husband in Crisp County and now Liberty House officials say they're handling the case of a pregnant woman who was beaten with a pipe in Dougherty County.

We're told the attacker poured lighter fluid on the woman and tried to set her on fire back in February.

FOX 31 asked law enforcement about the case and are waiting to see if they have any information.

Police records show there's been over 200 domestic violence cases this year.

Last year there were over than 1,700 cases.

"Given our data from August of last year and our shelter capacity, we have been consistently above 90 percent. So as soon as somebody leaves our shelter, we've got other people waiting to come in," said Silke Deely, Liberty House Executive Director.

Deely says the number of cases documented by police doesn't include the actual number of calls that 911 gets.

She says there needs to be more public awareness of domestic violence issues.
