      Power outage causes Phoebe evacuation

      Phoebe East employees, patients and staff have returned inside the facility after experiencing an electrical power outage Friday afternoon.

      Around 11:00 a.m., the power went out in a community on Sylvester Road.

      The power was cut off of Phoebe East and several other businesses in the area.

      Casey Dixon, a spokesperson for Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, says an employee smelled smoke and everyone was evacuated.

      Albany fire officials were called out to the scene to investigate. After investigating the outage, officials determined that it was safe for everyone to return to the facility.

      Employees were allowed back inside around 12:00 p.m.
