Tuesday afternoon Albany police held a press conference to warn residents about thieves stealing guns and other items out of cars.
Detective Harvey, with the Albany Police Department, says often times these stolen guns end up being resold on the street to criminals and this creates a danger to the public.
Over the last 14 days, there has been 36 incidents leading to the increase in entering autos across Albany.
Officials are warning people to lock their doors wherever they may be. Places such as parking lots, restaurants, and churches are areas that criminals often target.
At this time, no suspects have been caught.
Anyone who sees anything suspicious is asked to contact police.
