      Police searching east Albany for an armed robbery suspect

      Twelve police cars are on scene searching for a suspect involved in an armed robbery at Captain D's.

      At 10:04 PM, an Albany Police officer was called to assist a female Captain D's employee with the nightly deposit at SB&T Bank located at Stratford Drive and Rosebrier Avenue on Wednesday night.

      After arriving at the bank, they heard a noise by the A/C units and the officer told the female to get back in her car while the officer determined where the noise came from. The suspect came from behind the units and pointed a handgun at the officer. The officer fired one shot as the suspect turned and ran. No one is was injured.

      The suspect is a black male with a medium brown complexion, dressed in all black and is between 5'8" and 5'10" and was wearing a Batman mask and cape. As the suspect ran away, he dropped paraphernalia, including the mask.

      At this time the Albany Police Department is using all available resources they have near the Hidden Oaks Apartments in east Albany; there are currently about a dozen patrol cars on scene. Dougherty County Sheriff's Deputies, Lee County K9, GSP Helicopter, and tactical equipment from the Dougherty County Police Department has been called in to help in the search as well.

      This case remains under investigation.
