      Police: Recovered items believed to be connected to Flash Foods robbery

      Law enforcement in Coffee County say that have recovered a handgun and money they believe are connected to the July 10 armed robbery of Flash Foods.

      Officers from the Douglas Police Department and the Coffee County Sheriff's Office found the items in a wooded area near 1450 Bowens Mill Road SE after receiving tips and information.

      The handgun has been turned over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for further testing, as it is believed to be involved in the shooting of Douglas police officer Larry Carter while attempting to arrest a suspect in the robbery.

      According to a Facebook post from the Douglas Police Department and the Coffee County Sheriff's Office, a second man, 24-year-old Andre Warner has also been arrested and charged for armed robbery in connection to the robbery.
