This case is currently under investigation.

Some tips Albany Police officials say to use while at an ATM:

-If you are involved in a confrontation with an assailant who demands your money, COMPLY.

-Use an ATM located near the center of a building (corners create a blind spot), in public or in a well-lighted area free of shrubbery, decorative partitions or dividers.

-Memorize your PIN. Never write it on the back of your card.

-Pay attention to your surroundings throughout the entire transaction.

-Prepare all transaction paperwork prior to your arrival at the ATM to minimize the amount of time spend at the machine.

-Check the card reader on the ATM: If it is loose, if may be a "skimmer" placed to fraudulently obtain your card and PIN number. Cancel your transaction and notify bank personnel. If the bank is closed, notify the police immediately.
