Police investigating stabbing death at Dollar Inn

Albany police say the victim who was stabbed is 54-year-old William Morgan Jackson.

Third Update (2:30 P.M. THURSDAY 8/15/13)

Albany police have announced that warrants will be taken against 58-year-old Louis Floyd Jr. for murder and possession of a knife during the commission of a crime.

They have also charged 27-year-old Tara Harrell with murder and possession of a knife during the commission of a crime.

Both are currently in the Dougherty County Jail.

The victim's name has not been released at this time.


Albany police officers responded to the Dollar Inn on North Slappey Boulevard in reference to an unknown black male being stabbed.

When EMS arrived, the victim was un responsive and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the coroner.

The suspects are a black male and a white female traveling in a 2001, tan Dodge Stratus. It is still unknown who was the driver and who was the passenger.

The Dodge Stratus was found unoccupied in the East Albany area early Thursday morning.

Persons of interest and witnesses have been interviewed throughout the night. No charges have been filed at this time.


Albany police say they're looking for a 2001 gold Dodge Stratus with the license plate PHG7095. If you have any information on the location of the vehicle you're asked to call the Albany Police Department or you can report an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers by calling 229-436-TIPS(8477).

Dougherty County District Attorney Greg Edwards says this is an active and ongoing homicide investigation. The victim is described as a black male in his late 50's that died as the result of being stabbed. Witnesses are being questioned, however no other details are being released because this is considered an active investigation.


Albany police officers and crime scene unit are on scene after a man was found stabbed to death in room 110 of the Dollar Inn late Wednesday evening.

Witnesses tell police that a 2001 gold Dodge Stratus with a black male and white female inside was seen leaving the scene.

Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler and Dougherty County District Attorney Greg Edwards are also there to aid the investigation.

Edwards says this is a homicide and that they do have at least two persons of interest.
