Police investigating incident at Tift Regional Medical Center
Tift Regional Medical Center posted the following update to their Facebook page:
Tift Regional Medical Center (TRMC) called a Code Silver at 3:24 pm on Friday, May 3, which means a security incident occurred on hospital property. For the safety of our patients, visitors and staff, the hospital was placed on automatic lock-down. The all-clear was called at 4:28 pm.
The incident occurred on TRMC property, but not within the hospital, and did not involve TRMC patients, visitors or employees.
The incident involved a shooting between two law enforcement personnel and an individual in the parking lot across the street from the Emergency Room on the corner of Lee Avenue and 20th Street. Three victims are currently being treated in the Emergency Room. Again, no TRMC patients, visitors or staff were involved or were injured.
The area has been secured by law enforcement and officers Dennis Reese and Chad Davis with the Tift County Sheriff's Department have declared the scene safe.
An incident at Tift Regional Medical Center in the parking lot Friday afternoon has resulted in injuries, with none being confirmed as life threatening.
Tift County Sheriff's Department Criminal Investigation Division and Tift County Police are on scene assisting federal United States Marshals on the case.
FOX 31 is told that Georgia Bureau of Investigation Agent Kim Baker is handling the case.
