School is out for Dougherty County students and police are warning parents that kids must adhere to the 12:00 AM curfew ordinance.

Albany police are strictly enforcing the midnight curfew for anyone under the age of 18.

Minors under that age must be accompanied by a parent or someone 21 or older.

Officials say there are some exceptions where a child could be out alone past the curfew. One exception is if children are running emergency errands for parents.

Anyone else caught out past the midnight curfew may face punishment.

"The first time we'll give them a warning. The second time they'll be charged with curfew violation and we will have a zero tolerance for the summer time," said Investigator Travis smith, Albany Police Gang Unit.

The set curfew lasts until 6:00 AM in the morning.
