Lee County residents got a chance to interact with deputies from the Sheriff's Office Thursday afternoon.

Law enforcement held a Community Awareness Night in hopes of building a stronger bond with locals.

Families had the chance to tour a disaster truck for the department and take home a few goodies.

"It's good to get out into the community for the folks to know that they can come up here and talk to the sheriff's office and most specially the kids to where they're not scared of the law enforcement," said Sheriff Reggie Rachals, Lee County Sheriff's Office.

Thursday's event was the first Community Awareness Night effort for the Lee County Sheriff's Office and Chick-Fil-A.
