Police chase leads to teen's arrest

UPDATE (10:20 AM):

Officers responded to a call at 235 Frost Road Wednesday evening in reference to a motor vehicle theft. The victim stated that an unknown suspect or suspects took his vehicle, a red, 1997 Chevrolet C1500, without permission.The vehicle was located by the Dougherty County Police officers, along with the suspect, at the B&S Estates off of Sylvester Road.

ORIGINAL STORY: Officers now have a 16-year-old male in custody.Early Thursday morning, a Dougherty County Police officer saw a person driving a red Chevy truck down Sylvester Road without the lights on.

In a routine traffic stop, the teen driver drove away. After a short chase, the juvenile ditched the truck at the back of B&S Estates and ran off on foot.

DCP and other officers searched and found the suspect hiding under a trailer.

The Chevy truck, driven by the suspect, was reported stolen Wednesday afternoon from 235 Frost Road.

The teen is being taken by the Albany Police Department to the LEC where he will wait for charges.
