Police chase ends at Darton College

A high speed chase has ended at Darton College with one man in custody.

23-year-old Jacroy Dontrelle Jenkins, was wanted for shooting his father, 69-year-old Robert Jenkins, Friday morning. The Dawson Police spotted his car, when they attempted to pull him over he fled toward Albany.

Multiple agencies responded to the chase including Georgia State Patrol, the Terrell County Sheriff's Office, Albany Police Department, Dougherty County Sheriff's Office, Dougherty County Police Department, Lee County Sheriff's Office, Dawson Police Department, Darton campus police and the Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit.

Jenkins turned off Gillionville road on the Darton State College Campus, where he was apprehended.

Darton Police Chief Bracken said that his office received a call that the suspect was turning into the campus. By the time Darton officers located him, he was already in custody. He added that the suspect was the only one in the car and had no weapon.

Robert Jenkins has since died, and Jacroy Jenkins has been charged with murder, robbery, and possesion of a firearm by a convicted felon.
