Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital celebrated Tuesday as it received an award from Healthgrades for excellence in vascular surgery for 2014.
"This recognition of the services provided by the heart and vascular team at Phoebe is a great and well-deserved honor," said Joel Wernick, president and CEO of Phoebe Putney Health System. "The care that these doctors, nurses and support staff provide to the citizens of this community is critical, and this honor reiterates Phoebe's commitment to ensuring high quality care right here in Southwest Georgia."
Phoebe's recognition for excellent quality in vascular surgery is part of the American Hospital Quality Outcomes 2014: Healthgrades Report to the Nation. Healthgrades independently measures hospitals based on data that hospitals submit to the federal government. No hospital can opt in or out of being measured, and no hospital pays to be measured.
"Our team is committed to ensuring that our goal of quality service excellence is met consistently," says Dan Martin, MD, medical director of the vascular program. "We focus on improvement in protocols that will allow us to continue to produce positive outcomes for patients."
"At top performing US hospitals, patients are significantly less likely to die or experience complications while undergoing treatment for specific common procedures or conditions," says Conor Tuttle, director of client development at Healthgrades. "Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital has displayed excellence in quality patient care, specifically in vascular surgery where they perform in the top 10% in the entire country. Quality is not a coincidence; it is a direct result of commitment, collaboration, and caring."
