Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital named registered nurse Patricia S. Kennedy as their nurse of the year on Thursday afternoon during an awards ceremony.
Kennedy has been serving as a nurse at the hospital for seven years and was nominated by her co-workers for the award.
The award came at a much-needed time for Kennedy, who says she's not only working at the hospital but spends time there as a visitor to her terminally ill sister.
When announced, Kennedy says she couldn't believe that her peers thought so highly of her and its a wonderful feeling.
Kennedy says this award is a high for her and she can't wait to go up to the 7th floor where her sister is to share it with her.
