Phoebe Putney Health System (PPHS) has announced a new medical director of its Women's Health Services at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
William M. Sewell, III, MD, accepted the position and will work with Tracy Morgan, MSN, RN, Vice President of Women's and Children's Services.
Dr. Sewell will also work with OB/GYN colleagues to improve performance.
"I'm extremely excited to take on this new role specifically designed to further improve quality and safety for moms and their babies," Sewell said. "My goal is to ensure that we identify and apply the best evidence-based protocols and stay current with the best practices so that women and newborns in Southwest Georgia receive the very best care."
Sewell has more than 20 years experience in Albany. He recently completed his second consecutive term as chairman of the Department of OB/GYN.
