FOX 31 has learned employees have been laid off at Willson Hospice House owned by Phoebe Putney Health System.
Phoebe Putney has released the following statement in response:
"Healthcare institutions are going through trying times. This is true at all levels in our country and it is true at Phoebe. It is our obligation to prudently and wisely meet our budget while continuing our mission to meet the healthcare needs of our community.
Decisions on where we can reduce costs are being made with a great deal of forethought and care. Staff redundancies are reviewed with our patient needs in mind.
Last week, the Willson Hospice House staff was restructured to meet current and projected patient needs. These changes do not impact the services provided at the Willson Hospice House. No further comments will be made."
