Phoebe Putney Hospital board members discussed forming a subcommittee to look at the funding it provides to the community.

The IRS has put stipulations on 501C3 hospitals related to community benefits.

In response to that, the hospital board will create a subcommittee to check those funds beginning in the first quarter of 2012.

"That funds everything from United Way to Heart Association to a lot of other projects," says Senior Vice President Tom Sullivan.

The committee will also conduct a health needs assessment to determine how they will allocate those funds in the future.
