'Peppermint Pops' picks up Christmas spirit

The Albany Symphony Orchestra celebrated its 21st-annual, "Peppermint Pops" event tonight at the Albany Municipal Auditorium.

This years event held an extra bonus for attendees as the "Boston Brass" joined the symphony on stage, playing through multiple Christmas classics.

President of the Albany symphony association, Jim Beullion, says this event is a staple of the holiday season, and a community cornerstone.

"The symphony itself, and the arts are very important to the Albany community. It attracts business to the community, and it's part of the culture of our community," said Beullion.

In years past the event was free to the public, but to cover some of the cost of the "Boston Brass" event planners charged attendees $5-$10 dollars at the door. However folks could get also get in the door by providing a non-perishable food item to the Second Harvest Food Bank of South Georgia.
