      Pedestrian struck on Sylvester Road

      Albany police have released the identity of the teenager hit by a truck on Sylvester Road.

      Police say that 17-year-old Jazarus Fuller was texting while attempting to cross Sylvester Road when he was struck by a Ford F-350 driven by 55-year-old Randall Bentley from Sumner, Georgia.

      The truck was traveling east on Sylvester Road in the outside lane when Fuller began running trying to get across the roadway to beat the oncoming traffic. according to police.

      Fuller is in fair condition and no charges have been filed at this time.

      The pedestrian was crossing the road southbound when he was struck by the truck traveling east.

      Officers at the scene describe his injuries as serious.

      The juvenile has been transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for treatment.

      The traffic unit is on scene to further investigate.
