      Pedestrian struck near Phoebe

      According to police, 47-year-old pedestrian and Phoebe employee Paul Hatcher was struck by a red 2004 Ford Escape driven by Teresa Chambers after Hatcher was attempting to cross Jefferson without using a crosswalk and he did not see Chambers.

      A Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital employee was struck by a vehicle Tuesday morning near the hospital.

      According to police, 47-year-old Paula Hatcher was attempting to cross the street at the intersection of Jefferson Street and 3rd Avenue when she was hit by a red 2004 Ford Escape.

      Teresa Chambers, 37, was driving the vehicle that struck the victim.Hatcher was taken to Phoebe for observation.Albany police officials say no charges will be filed in the case. They believe Hatcher did not see the car coming as she attempted to cross the street.
