Peaceful resolution for Blaylock hostage situation
A hostage situation in Albany came to a peaceful end just before midnight Friday.
Around 9:45 p.m., Albany police responded to the 500 block of Blaylock Street after a call that a man was holding his child hostage.
Police say that the suspect held the child inside while threatening to kill anyone that tried to come in.
SWAT and negotiators were called in assist at the scene. Around 11:35 p.m., the suspect was taken into custody and the scene was under control.
The suspect was taken to the Dougherty County Jail and faces charges of terroristic threats and acts, burglary in the first degree, simple batter and cruelty to a child.
Police say that the child is safe with the mother and the situation ended peacefully.
