      Passing of the torch at MCLB Albany

      Colonel Jeffery Q. Hooks will assume command of Marine Depot Maintenance Command and is responsible for overseeing the operations and functions of Marine Corps Logistics Command production plants in Albany and Barstow, California. / Franklin White

      On Thursday, the Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany held its Change-of-Command retirement ceremony for Colonel Stephen A. Medeiros, who is retiring from the Marine Corps after 28 years of service.

      Colonel Jeffery Q. Hooks will assume command of Marine Depot Maintenance Command and is responsible for overseeing the operations and functions of Marine Corps Logistics Command production plants in Albany and Barstow, California.

      Colonel Hooks will oversee 2,800 federal and contracted employees with the Marine Depot Maintenance Command. MDMC repairs and refurbishes over 400 kinds of ground combat and support equipment.

      Colonel Hooks says, "it's great to be back in the Albany community, it's like coming home."
