Thursday Dougherty County students had the chance to get up close and personal with their teachers during an open house session.

The gym at Northside Elementary was packed with parents and students before they were whisked off to tour the school.

Children got acquainted with teachers while their parents were updated on what's coming up this term.

Some parents say free lunch for students is a great benefit but there are other changes they would like to see this year.

"I would like to see more PTO meetings this year so I can be better informed of what's actually going on in the school system," said Keyshanda Thomas.

Classes start for all Dougherty County students on Monday.
