Nathan Davis, the city attorney for Albany, went before the commission Tuesday morning to talk about a possible new ordinance. He says due to complaints made to the Albany Police Department of panhandling, he's come up with a rough draft for an ordinance prohibiting monetary/aggressive solicitation.Mayor Dorothy Hubbard says this has come into play because of the complaints and because business owners have approached her about the issue.Davis says a person will be allowed to approach another person with a card of some sort that asks them to donate money somewhere but they can't expect money on the spot.Commissioner BJ Fletcher said she actually had to call the police on someone panhandling and being aggressive at the hotel she works at. She says the aggressor actually grabbed someone at the hotel. She says this issue is getting serious.
