The Dougherty County School System held their annual academic decathlon Monday afternoon.
The decathlon is coordinated by Cassandra Sampson who told FOX 31 she feels a competition like this gives students a deeper understanding of what they're learning; this year's theme was 20th century.
Throughout the decathlon students in grades 9-12 work as teams to answer questions advancing point totals to determine the highest achieving team. At the end of the day they wrap things up with a super quiz followed by an awards ceremony.
Sampson said around 45 students participated.Stay connected to MySouthWestGA.com as stories develop and the FOX 31 Newscast at 10 PM. Visit us on Facebook and Twitter to join in on the conversation and connect with FOX 31!
