One dead in early morning Nashville shooting

Nashville Chief of Police Chuck Edwards confirms to Fox 31 at about 2:00 am on Saturday a Nashville PD patrol officer observed a large crowd of people near the intersection of Marion Avenue and Mathis Street and as he approached the area several bystanders began yelling and screaming at the officer telling him that someone had just been shot.

Witnesses told the officer that a black male had just exited the Blue Swan night club at 800 E. Marion Ave., when he shot another man outside the club then fled the scene on foot.

The officer immediately called for an ambulance and located the victim later identified as 23 y/o Cornelius Rashawn Miller of Lakeland, GA.

Mr.Miller was transported by EMS to the South Georgia Medical Center â" Berrien Campus where he was pronounced dead.

Nashville police are pursuing several leads toward identifying the man who shot Mr. Miller and have called in the Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI) for assistance with the investigation.
