Saturday, the fire department responded to a house where an old ac unit was causing trouble.
The woman who called said several of her bedrooms were filling up with smoke.
Firemen say if you have an older unit, to keep it serviced.
"The hotter months, they generally run more than usual, but if you're not maintaining your units, you run the risk of having belts going bad, put smoke into your home or even causing fire, so you wanna make sure you routinely have them inspected," said Captain Robert Taylor.
Firefighters say the unit probably just had trouble with the belt.
