It's that time of the year again - time to start Spring cleaning!

Residents aren't the only one gearing up for this, as officials in Albany and Dougherty County are doing some spring cleaning of their own.

Albany City Ward I Commissioner Jon Howard has teamed up with Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful in an effort to clean up the streets in his district.

Howard says there are many isolated areas where people drop off their trash and he adds that this makes the city of Albany look bad; it could deter businesses from wanting to come here.

From April 12th to the 30th, if you live in Howard's district, officials are asking you to place all unused appliances, unwanted grass, leaves, limbs, old tires, and anything from the yard at the curb alongside the garbage can and the City of Albany will collect the additional trash for no extra cost.

Howard is also holding a neighborhood cleanup Saturday April 20th at 9:00 a.m. and the meeting place is set for 2500 Sylvester Road.
