Officer involved in shooting off of Stocks Dairy Road in Lee Co.

Updated Thursday, Aug. 3:

Lee County Sheriff Reggie Rachals said they will file five charges against the man who was shot, Christopher Blake Terry.

Those are two counts of criminal damage to property in the second degree, one count of simple assault, one count of aggravated assault and one count of possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of certain crimes. The first three counts stem from the domestic violence ordinance, while the latter two are related to the shooting after sheriff's deputies had been called in.

Rachals adds that the deputy who shot Terry is currently on indefinite administrative leave.

An official with the Lee County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that an officer involved shooting has taken place.

Lee County Chief Deputy Lewis Harris confirms that the incident happened at Keyridge Mobile Home Park off of Stocks Dairy Road Tuesday morning.

Agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation have been called to the scene to help with the investigation.

According to Lee County Sheriff Reggie Rachals, EMS was called in first, who then requested backup from a deputy. The deputy found a man holding at least one knife with the indication that there were more. The deputy felt like he was going to be attacked and shot the man.

The man was identified Tuesday afternoon as 28-year-old Christopher Blake Terry.

The deputy was uninjured in the incident and the man he shot was taken to Phoebe for treatment.

Sheriff Rachals says that the last officer involved shooting involving the Lee County Sheriff's Office was in 2004.
