A man has died after an officer-involved shooting happened in Leesburg Monday afternoon.
Lee County Sheriff Reggie Rachals says officers were on the way to serve the man warrants for his arrest for his involvement of a robbery that happened October 19.
During the robbery, the man allegedly struck a woman in the face multiple times before demanding money.
He was able to acquire $200 and prescription pills before running off.
While going to serve warrants, they spotted him, and he began to run once he spotted police.
He ran down Pine Avenue in Leesburg and into a vacant home where the shooting then took place.
They cannot release details about the shooting at this time other than there was a struggle.
The man's mother has been notified but police are not releasing his name at this time.
The Lee County Coroner and Georgia Bureau of Investigation have arrived on scene and are currently investigating the incident.
