      Non-profit organization feeds Albany residents

The cold and rain didn't keep about 1,000 folks from heading to Albany State University

Some Albany residents were given a helping hand Saturday.

The cold and rain didn't keep about 1,000 folks from heading to Albany State University, where a box of food was waiting for each one of them.

Bishop Victor Powell is the Pastor with Rhema Word Cathedral. Their non-profit, my bothers keeper, spearheaded the event. He says the giveaway isn't just about a free meal; it's about helping a community. "We want to create a bridge. Connect people in need to the powerful programs in our community," says Powell.

Folks patiently waited in line to get their wristbands cut and get that helpful box of food. But folks receiving boxes weren't the only ones happy about the food giveaway. Volunteers were happy to help out; living up to their name, my brother's keeper.
