No warnings indicated before ceiling collapse
An Albany woman, Chussy Evans, is recovering after her ceiling collapsed on her Friday.
It was determined a leak from a broken pipe in the ceiling had been releasing a large amount of water in a short amount of time causing the ceiling to give out.
FOX 31 caught up with the Albany Housing Authority director, Dan McCarthy, Tuesday night to see when property inspections are done.
McCarthy says they are done "approximately every thirty days at every apartment. This event didn't expose itself until it occurred. It was an immediate thing and we don't expect it to occur in any other apartment."
There are maintenance and construction crews cleaning the house and installing sheet rock to have the ceiling replaced.
Construction is expected to be complete by the end of the week.
