New terminal finally ready for takeoff

You won't be seeing this terminal much longer after officials announced there's less than one week until they move into the new building / File

After months of delay, the Southwest Georgia Regional Airport's new terminal is ready for takeoff.

Airport officials received their certificate of occupancy which means the wait is over and everyone will be able to move in next week.

Contractors now need to make two corrections including blending an electrical box in with the flooring and making sure drainage moves away from the building, but airport officials say they're confident those changes will happen in time.

Delta, the car rental companies and airport administration will make the move to the new terminal on Tuesday, but the first official flight out of the building will be on Wednesday, August 7th at 6 a.m.
