For Valdosta residents, city sewer overflows may be resolved once the new Withlacoochee Wastewater Treatment Plant opens.

Officials broke ground today on a $32 million dollar force main project.

The new plant will sit on 75 acres of land.

This project is expected to resolve the majority of sewer overflows in flood prone areas.

The wastewater treatment plant is expected to be complete by 2016.
