Sun, 01 Dec 2013 04:16:21 GMT — As we move further into deer hunting season, there are some new rules and regulations you need to know before heading out.Starting December 1st, the amount of days to hunt deer of either sex will change.Officials say this is due to the decline in the number of fawns that survive into fall, which has decreased 26 percent statewide, which also affects the doe harvest rate which has increased 13 percent.Ranger First Class Chris Carlisle with the Department of Natural Resources says, "if you harvest a deer you need to record it, on your harvest record, before you move it before you load it up in your vehicle it needs to be recorded on your harvest record.
The guidelines will last through December 1st. all the way up to Christmas Day, with firearms hunting in the Southern Zone ending January 15th.
