First it was a Walmart and now it's a discount store that may come to Gillionville Road.

A south Albany resident is speaking out against the Family Dollar that proposed to set up shop in his neighborhood.

Lindsay Powell says he isn't about to keep quiet because his peaceful neighborhood won't be so calm if a new store comes to town.
He says not only would the store create unwanted traffic, but it will also bring down property values.

The homeowner says he and his neighbors built their dream homes in that neighborhood.

"We have put our hard earnings to have a fortune here and our retirement homes and now they want to come in and destroy our dreams," said Lindsay Powell, Dougherty County Homeowner.

Powell plans to go before the Planning Commission.

He hopes to kill the proposal before it makes it to city commissioners.

The Planning Commission meets this Thursday.
