A weekend shooting has shaken up the small town of Camilla, which is made up of people who say everyone knows everyone.
As you can imagine, people were surprised to learn of a young man being shot.
"I'm very surprised," Portia Brown said. "It's a small city. We don't have crimes like that going on around here."
21-year-old Rodney Pate was shot Saturday night by 20-year-old Samuel Stork. Pate's best friend Adarrius Keaton is still trying to process everything.
"That's my friend," Keaton said. "We're more like brothers."
Keaton says it was just a typical Saturday night outside of his Stephens Street home. His friends never expected any type of altercation to take place.
FOX 31 first spoke to Keaton Sunday. He says he's still grieving the loss of his friend. Brown says this makes her and her family uneasy and she's afraid.
"At some points...when it hits so close to home," she said.
Stork is being charged with one count of murder. Neighbors, friends, and family say they just want justice for Rodney.
