The National Hurricane Center is responsible for issuing forecasts for dangerous tropical weather.

The forecast area extends from the Atlantic coastlines, the Gulf and Caribbean, all the way to the Eastern Pacific Ocean.

Two new products are being added to the Hurricane Center's website this year.

One is a new 5-day weather outlook graphic and the other is a new graphical version of the outlook that comes out every six hours throughout the entire hurricane season.

Director of the National Hurricane Center Dr. Rick Knabb says " this is what will tell you where the storms are and where they're heading over the next five days that could become the next tropical depressions or storms. I'm real excited about it because it will give folks more of a heads up, especially when something might be forming on our doorsteps."
