Mon, 17 Mar 2014 16:12:23 GMT — The following information was released by the Nashville Police Department: Murder suspect 31-year-old Kelvin Eugene Brown Jr., has been apprehended and is currently lodged in the Cook County Jail, Adel, GA.Brown, who was wanted for the murder of 23 y/o Cornelius Rashawn Miller of Lakeland, GA, had been on the run since the 2:00 am shooting at the Blue Swan night club in Nashville, GA on Saturday March 15th.An intensive investigation by the Nashville Police Department and Special Agents of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) began almost immediately after the shooting and by late Saturday afternoon an arrest warrant on the charge of murder had been secured on Brown.Nashville Police Chief Chuck Edwards said we have been working this almost non-stop since inception. Once we identified our suspect and secured the arrest warrant we continued to follow virtually every single lead we had and by late Sunday night we had a pretty good idea that Brown was in Cook County (Georgia). As we narrowed down the likely location of Brown we began formulating a plan with the Cook County Sheriff Doug Hanks who coordinated the assistance of the Lowndes County Special Response Team with Lowndes County Sheriff Chris Prine. When we were confident we knew the exact location of Brown the decision was made to attempt arrest and at about 2:45 am this morning (Monday, March 17, 2014) he was taken into custody without incident from the Stagecoach Inn, Cecil, GAAgencies involved in the apprehension were the Nashville Police Department, GBI, Cook County Sherriff TMs Office and Lowndes County Sheriff TMs Office.Chief Edwards said there is no one single person responsible for the success of this investigation and subsequent arrest of Brown. I want to thank the Berrien County Central Dispatch Center staff, the GBI, Sheriff Hanks of Cook County, Sheriff Prine of Lowndes County, and their deputies. I also want to personally commend Nashville Detective Fred Busbin and GBI Special Agent Jamie Karnes for their relentless efforts with this case.Chief Edwards added more often than not bystanders do want to get involved, especially in violent cases such as this. We received tremendous support from the local community and their assistance played a major role in the outcome to this point. But the investigation and gathering of evidence continues and anyone with additional information is asked to contact NPD at 229-686-7666 or the GBI at 912-389-4103.
